February is coming to a close, the days are growing longer and as we head into March spring is beginning to feel as if it might not be so very far away. If you’ve been hibernating through the winter so far, it’s time to poke your nose out - because the Northeast Ohio area has got plenty to keep you entertained! Here are a few upcoming events we’ve found that you and yours might enjoy.
March 2, Saturday 9AM - 6PM
Kurentovanje is a Slovenian festival that celebrates the end of winter and the beginning of spring. Cleveland’s Kurentovanje festival and parade will feature lively cultural festivities, music and merry-making of all sorts. Don’t miss your chance to see what “Slovenian Mardi Gras” is all about.
March 5 - 24
This musical based on the hit Jack Black comedy is sure to be a hilarious and energizing way to spend time with the family. The musical made as big of a splash as the movie and features new songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber as well as all the movie’s original songs.
March 15, Friday 5 - 9PM
This ongoing series has become a mainstay in the Cleveland art scene. The third Friday of every month, the studios and event spaces of 78th Street Studios open their doors for Cleveland. With over 60 businesses, you’ll see some truly amazing work from Cleveland’s own artists and makers.
March 17, Sunday
It’s that time of the year…where all of Cleveland turns green. On March 17th, it doesn’t matter whether you’re Irish or just hoping for the luck of the Irish, all of Cleveland comes out to enjoy to parade, Irish dancers, Irish singers, corned beef sandwiches and perhaps just a couple green beers.
March 22, Friday 7 - 10 PM
A few times a year the Greater Cleveland Aquarium opens its doors after hours for its Adult Swim, an evening of drinks and light hors d’oeuvres in the company of the sharks and sting rays. This month’s theme is Ohio beer and wine. So bring grab a friend and your sense of wonder and head to the flats.
March 27 - April 7
Every year the Cleveland International Film Festival is a glowing beacon of art and culture during the grey winter. Now in its 43rd year, the festival will be featuring films in a number of locations. Running from March 27 through April 7 with films playing every day, it’s best to get your pen and start your planning today!
