The holiday season is in full swing. It’s the time of year where every weekend has us running from place to place. And for good reason..there’s endless fun things to do! Whether you’ve got little ones in tow, or are looking for something to do with friends, we’ve found some great ideas for you.
December 1, Saturday 11am - 7pm
Now in its 12th year, Light Up Lakewood has become a tradition for many people across the Cleveland area. From Santa visits to fireworks to the tree lighting, the festivities take place all day along Detroit Ave in the popular Downtown Lakewood area.
December 5, Wednesday 5-6pm
Celebrate and learn as a family during this Chanukah lighting celebration at the Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage. Tour a special children focused exhibit on Israel, hear the story of Chanukah, sing traditional songs and more. This event is free with registration.
December 7, Friday 5-8pm
If you’ve never been to Stan Hywet before, the holidays are one of the most fabulous times to visit. In the summer months, Stan Hywet’s gardens are full of flowers, but during December they are decked out with Christmas. This Is Cleveland actually put together a 5 Reasons to Visit Deck the Halls. Running from just after Thanksgiving through December, you’ve got plenty of time to not miss out!
December 8, Saturday 10am-9pm
A part of the Cleveland holidays since 2004, Cleveland Bazaar brings together over 100 artists and makers from Cleveland and beyond. Whether you’re buying gifts for friends, family or yourself, there is plenty to find among the 3 floors of handcrafted wares. And don’t forget the food and drinks! The event also runs on Sunday.
December 12, Wednesday 7pm
A beloved tradition, The Nutcracker ballet returns to Cleveland for another year. The two act ballet is suitable for all ages, but sells out fast! Get your tickets to Wednesday’s opening night, or one of the other 3 performances before it’s too late.
December 14, Friday 7:30pm
Celebrate the Holidays with the Cleveland Orchestra and Choral. You’ll hear holiday favorites, be included in guest sing-a-longs, and there might even be a visit from a certain someone in red. Fun for everyone in the family! There are multiple performances through December 23.
December 21, Wednesday 7pm
For something with a little more raucous fun, check out the Ohio City Singers at House of Blues. Formed at a holiday party 11 years ago, they have been merrily playing away since. You won’t be hearing the same old Christmas music at this party.
December 22, Thursday 6pm
What better way to round out the year than with a murder! A murder mystery, in fact! The Dinner Detective offers a fun evening of murder mystery theater at the Hilton Garden Inn in Downtown Cleveland. You’ll laugh, solve a mystery and have a 4 course meal all in one evening out. There are several performances on the books to choose from.
